Google integrates the Pixel 5’s camera app into older Pixel smartphones
Google launched the Pixel 5 smartphone in September this year. The phone featured several updates, such as a better camera and smarter security features, compared to the older Pixel 4 smartphone. Google’s camera app version 8.0 not only brought design upgrades to the app’s interface, but also brought several new camera features to the app. Now word is that the tech giant has started rolling out version 8.1 of its camera app to Pixel smartphones through a Play Store update. This update brings the Pixel 5’s camera app to older Pixel smartphones.
To give you a quick rundown, the latest edition of Google’s camera app, it comes with a new bottom bar and features like audio zoom, one-click zoom settings. There is also a cinematic panoramic video recording feature that allows users to click smooth panoramic shots.
According to a report from 9TB5 Google, the update is valid for all Pixel smartphones up to Pixel 2 series smartphones and it has started to appear in Pixel 4 series smartphones.
The report also notes that the cinematic panning feature only appears on Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL smartphones, and it’s unclear whether or not the update will arrive in older-generation Pixel smartphones or the new Pixel 4a smartphone. That said, Google has just started rolling out the update. We’ll know more about the details as more Pixel smartphones receive the update.
